Meals on Wheels

What Are The Aims Of Our Service?  To home-deliver nutritious affordable meals on a short or long term basis.
Am I Eligible To Receive Meals? You are eligible if you live in the municipality of Ryde or Hunters Hill and answer ‘yes’ to either of the following statements:
- I am frail aged or have a disability.
- I am the carer of a person who is frail aged or has a disability.
What Type Of Meals Are Available?

You can choose to receive a meal that is either:
• chilled to be heated and eaten later that day
• frozen to be stored in the freezer.

You may also choose a combination of these, for example a chilled meal to heat when you would like to eat it and frozen meals for the weekend or days you will be out at delivery time.
What Will My Meals Consist Of? The meal package contains:
Main course
Dessert
Fruit juice
Fresh Bread (2 slices)
Soup in winter
Can My Dietary Needs Be Met? Yes, if you are diabetic, gluten intolerant, vegetarian or require your food to be chopped or pureed.
When possible we will cater for your personal preferences and/or religious requirements, for example: no pork; fish on Fridays.
When Will My Meals Be Delivered? Our volunteers deliver the meals Monday to Friday between 11am
and 1pm. There are no deliveries on weekends or Public Holidays but you can order frozen meals to eat then.
How Do I Start Receiving Meals? By phoning us on 9817 0101.
You can do this yourself or a family member, friend, carer or doctor can do it for you. We will ask a few questions and if you are eligible you can start receiving meals immediately. Within four working days of commencement of service the Food Services Coordinator will visit you to:
• provide you with written information about the Service
• discuss your dietary requirements and food preferences
• answer any questions you have.
Gladesville Luncheon Club If you would like to join a friendly group that meets at HHRCS every Wednesday for lunch and optional activities such as Bingo and Carpet Bowls phone us on 9817 1010.
Our bus will pick you up and take you home.
