The Moocooboola Computer Club for Seniors (a member of the Australian Seniors Computer Clubs Association - ASCCA) is a not-for-profit community organisation, which aims to provide people aged 55 years and over with the basic skills they need in order to use a computer at home.
The club meets at the Community Centre, located at 44 Gladesville Road, Hunters Hill. Sessions are held on Mondays to Thursdays. Morning sessions are held from 10.00am to 12.00pm and afternoon sessions from 1.00pm to 3.00pm. Additionally, evening sessions are held on Tuesdays from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.
A number of voluntary trainers assist members. Each member is allocated to a computer and has access to the PC Simplicity series of manuals, which cover Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Publisher programs. The Club provides an avenue through which members are able to explore the internet, utilise online banking, plan holidays, edit digital camera photographs, watch the share market, send and receive emails and perhaps even write up their life story on a digital platform should they wish.
The Club's newsletter Moocoo News is published bi-monthly. It gives tips on using computers as well as other useful information.
Computer wizards can share their know-how and interests with other Club members, or perhaps even become volunteer trainers themselves.
