Happy National Carers Week!
There are over 2.8 million carers in Australia and National Carers Week is a time to acknowledge the outstanding contribution made by unpaid family and friend carers. Because our carers count, we invited them to a lunch to celebrate this special week.
Thirty nine carers attended the HHRCS Carers Lunch on Thursday the 20th of October at the Ryde Catering College's Ambassador Restaurant. This event made possible by funding provided by Carers NSW, HHRCS and Hunters Hill Council. The lunch was a great success. There was plenty of time between the courses for carers to mingle with each other and to meet carers from different groups.
All carers, at the end of the lunch, were given a single stem rose.
Comments from carers:
"Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed lunch yesterday. The food and atmosphere were good and it was lovely to spend some leisure time with fellow carers. We had lots of laughs!!"
"Yesterday was a great day. Thanks so much. It went off to perfection."
"I just wanted to say thank you for organising yesterday's event, that was so wonderful and I guess it must have been a lot of work for you. Thank you so much.
I enjoyed myself very much and people who were at our table all seemed happy, too"
