On Saturday 20 February a category-five mega storm devastated Fiji. Cyclone Winston packed winds of up to 325km/h, snapping tree trunks in half, damaging key infrastructure and bending metal power poles.
Some villages such as Nabukadra have been completed destroyed. 80% of the population are estimated to be without power, and water sources and hospitals have also been damaged. Schools are closed, with many being used as evacuation centres.
HHRCS is launching an appeal to collect preferably new clothes, bedding and non perishables to people affected by the devastating cyclone in Nabukadra, Nakorotubu, Ra the village where HHRCS staff member Margaret Vuli's family live.
