Accompanied Shopping

Our aim is to maximise each client's capacity to continue to live independently in their home. We provide an accompanied shopping service to Clients who may need assistance with the following:

  • Fresh food and groceries
  • Clothing
  • Bill Payment/ Banking
  • Pharmacy

How often can I have the service?

  • Weekly or fortnightly with a 2-hour time frame to complete your shopping
  • One-offs  for special shopping needs  to be completed within prearranged timeframe

How does it work?

  • On the prearranged day of the shopping trip, the HHRCS support worker will pick you up from your home at the arranged time and drive you to your nominated local Shopping Centre.
  • The staff accompanies you around the Shopping Centre assisting you with your shopping and small errands. 
  • Shopping is not limited to the supermarket you may also wish to visit other places such as the bank, Medicare, newsagent.
  • The staff returns you home we help you carry in the shopping bags or we help you arrange home delivery of your groceries.
  • If you are unable to go shopping for any week, please contact the Coordinator. The Coordinator will advise the staff, and if possible make alternate arrangements.

What shops can I go to?

  • Local supermarkets
  • Nearby shopping centres
  • Specialty shops for one-offs

Is there a fee?  

  • Please refer to our brochure for more details. If you are experiencing hardship or feel that you cannot afford the service you can apply for a fee reduction.
